Lorna-Kay left teaching for a position at the Cincinnati Art Museum as an assistant curator of education, and later served as the acting curator at a critical time in the museum's growth. The monthly Evenings for Educators program was revitalized under her tenure and brought to unprecedented popularity. She introduced a graduate credit class based on the Evenings for Educators program, and served as adjunct professor for three universities to facilitate its implementation. She curated the museum's first student exhibition and published a special catalogue. She was involved with the strategic planning for the museum, and worked directly with the museum's director. Lorna-Kay also spearheaded a collaborative grant which brought distance learning to the museum, and produced a major interdisciplinary curriculum based on the permanent African collection. Lorna-Kay moved to Vermont to take the position of Executive Director for the South End Arts and Business Association, a position she held for three years. In this role, she brought the organization to new levels of recognition and financial strength. Focusing on membership, board development, web presence, and the enhancement and growth of an already established community event, the organization grew in visibility, numbers, and support. The Art Hop grew to involve over 400 artists, many businesses and over 1000 works on display, and is now attended by thousands of people over a three-day period. It was voted one of the ten best fall events in Vermont. Lorna-Kay serves on the Board of Advisors of the Fleming Museum in Burlington, and is the current board chair. She also is a mentor with the Mercy Center Mentoring Program. Judy Raven has more than twenty years’ experience in management, marketing, and administration in both the private and public sectors. Judy has contributed to the growth and success of several Vermont businesses and organizations, including Shelburne Art Center, Williamson Publishing, Artec Distributing, and Vermont Department of Health. At Shelburne Art Center she created a proposal for re-use of a historic town building and established a gallery of fine art and crafts that quadrupled the number of people who interact with the Art Center; developed instructional programs with public and private community schools; attracted business sponsors for programs and exhibitions; and increased enrollment in classes and summer camp by 30%. At Williamson Publishing Judy developed and implemented marketing campaigns for eight new books per year, managed commissioned sales reps throughout the U.S., initiated international sales and foreign rights sales to Asia, Australia, and Europe, and created new branding for the company through promotional materials and trade show presentation. At Artec, a video distribution company, Judy was responsible for comprehensive marketing programs including management of $900,000 departmental operating budget, administration of $2 million+ co-op advertising program, corporate advertising and public relations, and a staff of 20. She was instrumental in launching Artec Express, an online ordering and information service; and she conceived and developed a retail merchandising seminar program, an industry first that gave Artec a competitive advantage. Judy managed media and public relations for the Vermont Department of Health for five years. She developed and implemented print, radio, and television media campaigns and consumer education materials on health issues; conducted statewide trainings on health promotion, and designed and conducted workshops for Health Department Directors. Judy has lived and worked in Vermont for more than 30 years. |
